The Irish language gets a boost in Sligo.

'Cúrsaí' visited Sligo in 1995, when it finally had a naíonra. At the time there were 260 Irish-speaking preschools throughout Ireland, but none in the neighbouring counties of Sligo, Roscommon and Leitrim until the management of the De La Salle school in Sligo Town decided to make one room available for parents who wanted to send their children to a naíonra.

In this report, Pat Butler meets some of those involved in setting up the naíonra. Nuair a chuala Máire Ní Shearraigh, comhairleoir ón gComhchoiste Réamhscolaíochta, nach raibh naíonra i Sligeach, bhí uirthi cabhrú leo.Tá stiúrthóir naíonra Nóirín Ní Dhónaill an-bhuíoch den Bhráthair Bonaventure, a chuir an seomra ranga ar fáil.

This edition of 'Cúrsaí' was broadcast on 5 May 1995.
