In 1990 a ceremony took place to mark the launch of a new Sealink ship 'Felicity' in Rosslare.

Kevin McDonald reports for RTÉ News from the ceremony which is attended by Seamus Brennan who comments on the competition to sea travel from the air travel industry. It is hoped that the new ferry will offer an alternative to the growing competition from cheap air travel.

The Felicity weighs in at 15,000 tonnes, is double the size of The Cambria, which serves the Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead route, and can take 1,600 passengers.

An RTÉ News report broadcast on 6 April 1990.
