With early potato planting season upon us, a look at good sprouting practice from 1965.

For those planning to plant early potatoes in March, RTÉ's farming programme 'On the Land' had this advice: Housewives and shopkeepers expect to buy a sack of "sound, edible tubers". Diseased and rotten ones should be removed.  The programme visits John Ahearne's sprouting house on his farm in Cobh, Co. Cork to see how it's done.

This edition of 'On the Land' was first broadcast on 7 March 1965.
