Almost £3 million stolen from Brinks Allied Depot.
One of the most daring robberies in the state's history took place on the night of 24 January 1995.
Almost £3 million was stolen from the Brinks Allied Depot in Santry, Dublin. The haul included some sterling and US dollars.
The raid was meticulously planned, with fencing and trees being removed by the gang prior to gaining entry access to the Brinks yard. Two of the five masked radars overpowered staff and took the money. The raid lasted one minute and was described by Gardaí as "daring and sophisticated".
Minister for Justice Nora Owen comments on the raid and the allegation that the Gardaí had prior information about the raid.
