The 1969 Cork Film Festival opened at the Savoy cinema in Cork, with a ceremony at the Metropole, on 13 September.
Vincent O'Sullivan reports on the festival which has a total of 16 full length feature films and 63 short films. The highlights of the week-long festival are the 3 world première including 'Royal Hunt of the Sun', 'I Can't I Can't', and 'Tomasa'.
Stars such as Sylvia Syms, Hattie Jacques, Barbara Mullen and Jack Palance, are expected to make personal appearances at the festival.
Once of the main attractions of the festival was the Film Maker's Workshop. A miniature Ardmore Studios was built with City Hall with all facets of film making covered.
