Transition Year Goes Mainstream

As the schools return after the summer break we take a look back 25 years and meet some Transition Year students.

In September 1994, Transition Year went mainstream in Irish secondary schools. However, it had been introduced on a pilot basis back in 1974. In 1989 'Newsline' asked some Transition Year students in the Marist Brothers School in Athlone about their experiences.

This report by Gerry Reynolds for 'Newsline' was broadcast on 27 October, 1989.
