Anti-Apartheid Protests at Cricket Match

On the 19 July 1969 an anti-apartheid demonstration took place in Rathmines, Dublin and stopped a cricket match between Ireland and an all-white South African team.

The protests and pickets took place at the Leinster Cricket Grounds, Rathmines in Dublin.

Shortly after play began, members of the Coordinating Committee Against Racialism and Apartheid, occupied the cricket pitch. The protesters were forcibly removed by Gardaí.

In this clip protesters are pictured picketing the entrance to the grounds.
