As commemorations took place this week to mark the 98th anniversary of the 1916 Rising we take a look back forty years to the procession at Arbour Hill.

On 8 May 1974 the annual 1916 commemoration took place at Arbour Hill with a procession to the graves of the 1916 leaders.

In attendance at the commemoration were: President Erskine Childers and his wife Rita Childers; An Taoiseach Liam Cosgrave and Mr. Eamon de Valera.
