On this day in 1970, the RTÉ TV programme 'Horizon' looked at religious vocations and the way in which religious orders attract recruits for their cause.
This clip from the programme shows 'CALL '70 - A Vocations Exhibition' being held in Limerick. At the time, this kind of event was regarded as the way forward. A spokesman for St Joseph's Young Priests Society explains that the exhibition is a selling operation. The society had identified the need to focus on adult young people because the future of vocations would come from the laity.
This episode of 'Horizon' was broadcast on 3 July 1970. The beginning of this clip is mute.
