O'Connell Street Prepares for Kennedy Visit

With one day to go before President Kennedy arrived in Ireland O'Connell Street, Dublin was being decorated and broadcast  equipment was being put in place to provide live coverage of the motorcade.

This RTÉ News report shows a cameraman on scaffolding at the Daniel O'Connell monument. Wires and cables have been laid along the pavement of Prince's Street at the corner of the GPO, where a Telefís Éireann van is parked. Many buildings along O'Connell Street have been decorated with Irish and American flags. Inside the GPO, a woman takes a telephone call and two others consult over documents at the teleprinters.

This report was broadcast on 25 June 1963.
