BBC Vans Come to Dublin for Visit of JFK

The visit of President Kennedy presented a challenge to RTÉ. The 4 day visit would have to be covered live on radio and television. The number of events and locations to be broadcast live from was a particular challege to Telefís Éireann (RTÉ telelvision) which was only 18 months on air. Telefís Éireann had only one outside broadcast unit so additional facilities would be required.

With two days to go to President Kennedy's visit RTÉ News reports on the arrival of broadcast equipment from Britain as television vans from the BBC and ATV cross the Northern Ireland border on their way to Dublin.

This report was broadcast on 24 June 1963.
