Two Tiger Cubs Born at Dublin Zoo 1986

This week Dublin Zoo welcomed Ussuri, a two year old male Amur tiger.

RTÉ Archives looks back to July 1986 when two tiger cubs were born at Dublin Zoo. In this extract from the programme 'Animal Trail' we are introduced to the new cubs, who appear with their handler Gerry Creighton. As is mentioned in the clip, Dublin Zoo has been successful for many years in breeding tigers and these two cubs will be sent on to other zoos around the world. This episode of 'Animal Trail' was broadcast on 5 July, 1986.

'Animal Trail' was a series presented by Peter Wilson and featuring Dublin zoo and the origins, physical characteristics, habits and traits of different animals. This particular episode looked at the black bear, the cheeta as well as the tiger.
