Writer and Broadcaster Robert Kee Dies

RTÉ Archives was sorry to learn of the death of writer and broadcaster Robert Kee at the age of 93. Kee presented the series 'Ireland: A Television History' which was broadcast on RTÉ and BBC Television between 1980 and 1981. The series was largely based on his book 'The Green Flag' (1972) and his lifelong interest in Ireland.

Robert also worked as a Sunday Times correspondent and as a reporter and presenter at the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4.

The accompanying image shows Robert on board a boat off the Irish coast at Howth, County Dublin, in May 1979. This shot was taken during the filming of 'Ireland: A Television History', an RTÉ/BBC co-production broadcast in 13 parts from 2 December 1980.
