This month sees the release of a documentary charting the early success of The Rolling Stones on a weekend tour of Ireland. 'Charlie Is My Darling - Ireland 1965' was filmed in Dublin and Belfast in 1965. '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' was number one around the world and The Rolling Stones were hitting the big time. The original film by director Peter Whitehead never received an official release and has now been remastered for release as part of the group's 50th Anniversary celebrations. The film includes never-before-seen footage and was restored by director Mick Gochanour and producer Robin Klein. The film is released by ABKCO Films.
RTÉ Archives has unearthed footage of these early days in the career of The Rolling Stones. Reporter, Mike Burns, speaks to Mick Jagger on a platform at Dublin's Connolly Station. They talk Irish audiences, Irish weather, and long hair.
