The Dublin Festival of History

The Dublin Festival of History is Dublin's only city-wide, dedicated history festival aimed at anyone who loves history and who enjoys reading history for pleasure. The aim of the festival is to give history lovers an opportunity to listen and discuss a variety of history topics with authors and historians of national and international renown. The second festival will take place in Printworks, Dublin Castle and city branch libraries from 26th September to 8th October.

This year's programme includes the Tudor historian Alison Weir, First World War specialist Sir Hew Strachan and the winner of this year's Wolfson History prize, Catherine Merridale. Charles Spencer, David Dickson and Sir Richard Evans also feature and all of the history lectures are FREE. Also on the bill are films, historical architectural walks of the city, living history displays and a writing workshop while there will be a pop-up history library and bookshop in Dublin Castle. With a particular emphasis this year on remembering the First World War
