Gould sweeps to German Masters
07 Feb 2016 22:10
England's Martin Gould won his first world ranking title by beating Luca Brecel 9-5 in the final of the German Masters.
-
Gould built on his 5-3 interval lead in Berlin to claim the trophy and the £60,000 top prize.
-
The world number 20, who had knocked out Judd Trump and Graeme Dott on the way to his third ranking final, made two century breaks of 104 and 110.
-
Surprise finalist Brecel was the first Belgian to appear in a ranking final and only the second European from outside the UK and Ireland since Malta's Tony Drago lost the 1997 International Open to Stephen Hendry.
