Black Beach set for Royal Ascot run
27 May 2015 09:09
Black Beach is to be given entries in three of the two-year-old races at Royal Ascot after a second eyecatching run in the Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
-
The Johnny Levins-trained youngster stepped up on his debut just six days earlier, when he was runner-up to Auld Enemy at Navan, with a big performance to take minor honours behind Round Tower and Washington DC in the Listed contest, also over five furlongs.
-
Levins believes Black Beach to have the potential to develop into a classy performer and revealed there has been plenty of interest in the son of Footstepsinthesand.
-
"He's come out of it very well," said the County Kildare handler.
-
"He's a good, solid colt. He's still learning about racing, but my own thoughts about when he does learn how to race is that he'll make an exceptional miler.
-
"I suppose the logical choice would be to give him entries in the two-year-old races at Ascot. We'll see how he is in the meantime and take it from there.
-
"If he's good enough to go and he's ready, then he'll take up one of those engagements.
-
"To give him all the options, he'll have entries in the Coventry, Norfolk and the Windsor Castle. We'll assess the situation and decide accordingly which race to run him in.
-
"It's very exciting and I can see him developing because what he's doing at two is exceptional.
-
"I think when the penny dopes drop with him he could develop into a high-class miler as a three-year-old and maybe into a Guineas horse.
-
"There is plenty interest in him. We'll just sit tight and see what happens. These things normally tend to sort themselves out."
