Kildare & Down into Ring semi-final
18 May 2013 17:05
Kildare withstood a stirring second-half comeback from Wicklow in Arklow to book their place in semi-final of the Christy Ring Cup, where they will be joined by Down.
-
Gerry Keegan pointed an injury-time free to secure victory for the Lilywhites on a 0-17 to 2-10 scoreline. Two second-half goals gave London a lifetime after they trailed 0-12 to 0-04 after 40 minutes.
-
Even though the winners had David Harney sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the second period, Keegan kept his nerve when it mattered most to leave the Garden County broken hearted.
-
Down overcame Derry on a 3-07 to 0-09 scoreline.
-
In the Nicky Rackard Cup quarter-finals, Monaghan ran out easy winners over Sligo in Iniskeen, 5-12 to 2-07.
-
The Ulster side held a 3-05 o 1-03 lead at the break and coasted to a 14-point victory.
-
Roscommon always had a measure of control over Louth in Ballyhaunis and ran out 2-14 to 0-13 winners.
-
Meanwhile, Longford are through to the final of the Lory Meagher Cup after a comprehensive win over Fermanagh in Pearse Park.
-
The home side were 3-11 to 1-05 up at the break and ran out 18-points winners, 6-13 to 1-10.
-
The Midlanders will now face Warwickshire, who had a walkover against Leitrim, in the final on 8 June.
