METEOROLOGICAL SITUATION AT 0900:
An unstable variable airflow covers Ireland, as a shallow area of low pressure tracks to the east. A freshening southeast flow will develop over southern and western areas tonight, as a frontal trough and associated shallow depression approaches from the southwest. The trough will become slow moving in the south and southwest and weaken, as the depression slides to the southeast.

WIND:
Variable force 3 or 4 becoming southeast to east this evening and increasing force 3 to 5, risk locally force 6 off the southwest coast for a time overnight. Decreasing force 3 or 4 tomorrow morning.

Scattered showers. Rain at times overnight in the southwest and south, and in eastern sea areas tomorrow.

Outlook for a further 24 hours until 1200 Saturday 13 February 2016:
Light to moderate east to southeast winds, increasing fresh to strong in some areas Friday night and Saturday. Rain becoming more widespread for a time but still well scattered in northwestern and northern areas. Risk of fog in the south.
