RTÉ publish The Week in Politics Book - a comprehensive account of Election 2011

RTÉ has published a compelling up close and personal account of Election 2011, which was launched this evening by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny at the Royal Irish Academy in Dublin today, Wednesday 1 June.

In The Week in Politics - Election 2011 & the 31st Dáil, seasoned political observers from RTÉ television's specialist political programme, The Week in Politics, and others, deliver a riveting account of the unfolding drama and outcome of one of the most extraordinary elections in recent Irish history.
Edited by Deirdre McCarthy with a forward by RTÉ Director of News and Current affairs Ed Mulhall and Managing Editor of RTÉ News Cillian de Paor, the book includes a series of articles on the fall of the government, the rise of new national leaders, the debates and the campaign on the ground, on the airwaves and online. Contributions come from RTÉ's skilled political staff including The Week in Politics presenter, Sean O'Rourke, Bryan Dobson and David Davin Power. The book also includes specially commissioned articles from well-known writers. Olivia O'Leary reports on the saddest election she's ever covered while veteran former RTÉ journalist Sean Duignan recounts the elections he shared with the late Gerald Barry.

There is also a constituency-by-constituency guide which sees results analysed in detail by expert pollster Sean Donnelly.

Copies of The Week in Politics - Election 2011 & the 31st Dáil, priced at €17.99, will be available from the RTÉ online shop (www.rte.ie/shop), Easons and all good bookstores.
