RTÉ.ie remains Ireland's Number 1 Media Website
Thursday, 26 March 2009RTÉ.ie is Ireland's leading media website according to the Joint National Internet Research (JNIR) results released today, with 25% of all internet users aged 15 + using RTÉ.ie in 2008.
RTÉ.ie has 483,000 users placing it 190,000 ahead of Independent.ie and Ireland.com/Irish Times.com, its closest media website competitors.
For advertisers, RTÉ.ie strongly delivers key demographic groups:
70% of weekly users are aged between 19 - 44
57% of weekly users are aged between 25 - 44
63% of weekly users are ABC1
Frequent usage and engagement with RTE.ie is demonstrated by the fact that 43% those who have accessed RTE.ie in the last 12 months have done so in the last week.
RTÉ.ie provides unrivalled coverage of news, current affairs, sport, entertainment and lifestyle in multiple formats. New developments in 2008 enhanced the News, Sport and Business sites in terms of quality, content and depth. This was demonstrated during the Beijing Olympics in August, when users could watch up to six live video feeds from Beijing. RTÉ.ie's Olympics 2008 website generated almost 7 million page impressions, and over 1 million streams.
A GAA Media Player was launched as part of the dedicated GAA Championship website in May 2008 which hosted 12 web-only live games during the Championship.
In addition to building on established brands, RTÉ.ie launched new services including www.rte.ie/fashion which is attracting female users from the casual shopper to designer fashionista.
RTÉ's four national radio stations are streamed live worldwide on RTÉ.ie and approximately 80% of shows are available to listen to on-demand after the live show.
