RTÉ Supports the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2013

9 January 2013: Bryan Dobson and RTÉ Weather's Helen Curran were among the first to get a sneak-peek today at RTÉ's exhibition stand at the 2013 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

RTÉ is supporting the event with a packed schedule of live broadcasts, events and activities across all RTÉ platforms. Young people from across the country will converge on the RTÉ Exhibition Stand in the RDS Dublin from tomorrow, Thursday, through to Saturday.

  • RTÉ Two will broadcast TwoTube live from the event on Thursday and Friday. Visitors to the RTÉ Stand will get the chance to meet their favourite presenters and see them in action.
     
  • RTÉ 2fm’s Tubridy will report on the buzz of opening day, while Rick O’Shea’s Rick in the Afternoon will broadcast live from the RTÉ Stand on Thursday and Friday; Weekenders with Paddy and Ruth has it covered on Saturday afternoon.
     
  • RTÉ One’s Today programme will report live from the RTÉ Exhibition Hall on Thursday and Nationwide will air a special BT Young Scientist report on its Friday programme.
     
  • RTÉ’s Education & Science Correspondent Emma O’Kelly will be on the ground for RTÉ News; RTÉ News Now, RTÉ’s digital news service, will broadcast news updates throughout the day.
     
  • The RTÉ weather team will present RTÉ’s lunchtime weather bulletin, on each day of the event, live on RTÉ One television.
     
  • RTÉ Digital will display some of the many on-line and mobile services RTÉ provides on multiple connected devices, including RTÉ Player, RTÉ Radio Player and RTÉ News Now. RTÉ’s multimedia team will have roving reporters interviewing exhibitors about their entries for the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, who will then appear on RTÉ’s YouTube Channel as well as on the Digital wall at the RTÉ Exhibition Stand.
     
  • RTÉ Radio 1 will keep listeners updated throughout the day with reports on Morning Ireland and Today with Pat Kenny right through to Drivetime.
     
  • RTÉ Pulse, RTÉ Radio’s dedicated digital dance music station, will be broadcasting its new breakfast show, Mo-K in the Morning, live from the RTÉ Stand on Thursday and Friday morning.
     
  • RTÉ lyric fm will be running its ever-popular Lyric Outreach education programme on Thursday morning between 9.30am – 11am. Participants will be invited to try out their presenting skills by introducing their very own radio programme.

Other highlights for visitors to the RTÉ Stand during the week include the chance get some hands-on experience presenting a weather bulletin at a purpose-built studio at the RTÉ Exhibition Stand.
