National Irish Bank To Sponsor RTÉ Radio 1's Drivetime
8 October 2012: National Irish Bank will today commence a 12 month sponsorship of Ireland's top-rated evening radio programme, RTÉ Radio 1's Drivetime.
This is the third successive sponsorship for the programme and comes in the wake of a significant gain of 14,000 listeners to 259,000 in the latest published JNLR figures.
Presented by Mary Wilson, Drivetime is the most-listened-to evening radio programme on Irish radio*. Featuring the day's top news, current affairs and sports stories, Mary, with an award winning team of producers, explores the topical issues of the day from 4.30pm to 7pm, asking tough questions and seeking answers.
The new sponsorship is part of a campaign to rebrand National Irish Bank as Danske Bank. The Danish-owned bank is restructuring its Irish operations and will be changing its name to Danske Bank from the middle of November.
Tara Farrell, Sponsorship Manager, RTÉ Radio says: “Sponsorship remains - even in these difficult times - a buoyant sector of the advertising industry, particularly for RTÉ Radio. In addition to KIA Motors’ return to air on The John Murray Show, this week sees the debut of National Irish Bank on Drivetime. It’s a fitting endorsement of the station’s incredible national reach that when businesses have important messages to convey, they turn to RTÉ Radio 1.”
Jackie Duggan, Marketing Manager, National Irish Bank, commented: “We’re delighted to sponsor the award-winning Drivetime show on RTÉ Radio 1, the most popular evening programme on Irish radio. Our rebranding from National Irish Bank to Danske Bank is an important step for us in the reshaping of our bank. We’re building a bank for the future, with a focus on offering strong technology, expert advisory services and competitive pricing. Our ambition is to be the bank of choice for corporate and private banking customers”
