4 Million tune into All Ireland Football Final on RTÉ Television

RTÉ Sport’s comprehensive coverage of the 2012 GAA Football Championship came to a climax yesterday with live coverage of this year's All Ireland Senior Football Championship Final attracting the second highest television audience for the event in the last eight years. The epic encounter saw 1.4million (1,397,400*) viewers tune in to RTÉ Two’s coverage of the gripping game.

Despite a determined attempt by Mayo, Donegal kept their early lead to claim their first title in 20 years with an average of 960,500** people watching full coverage of the game including post-match analysis and reviews with RTÉ’s panelists Pat Spillane, Joe Brolly and Colm O’Rourke.

The match was also a hit with fans online with RTÉ’s coverage of the game on RTÉ.ie generating over 48,000 streams to date within the Island of Ireland.
