    Eurosonic 2015

The Riptide Movement are going to the Eurosonic Festival, Europe’s biggest and most important new music event, at RTÉ 2fm's invitation. 2fm is founding partner of Eurosonic and this year the first Irish act announced and 2fm's choice to perform at the festival is The Riptide Movement.

Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, The Netherlands, takes place in January 2015 for the 14th year in a row.

2fm is sending Nevan McCartin to the Netherlands in January to the Eurosonic Festival and the EBBA ceremony where the top new acts of Europe will perform live at a televised gig presented by Jools Holland.

Nevan won by voting for his favourite EBBA winner in the EBBA Public Choice Award.

The short list for the EBBA show include Hozier, Milky Chance and John Newman amongst others. Last year Kodaline won the Europe wide popular vote and James Vincent McMorrow featured the year before that.

Of the voters from Ireland, Eoghan McDermott and Dan Hegarty chose Nevan live on air to go to the EBBA ceremony and Eurosonic Festival. The prize includes bringing a friend and covers flights, train transfers and accommodation for three nights.

    About Eurosonic

Eurosonic is the biggest hunting ground in Europe for festival bookers, agents, promoters and radio stations across the continent. Each year, countries from around the continent send their freshest, most promising acts to showcase their wares at the major, city-wide festival in the university city of Groningen. It is the key exchange and networking platform for European music, with a proven track record for helping new acts break into the international music scene.

Eurosonic has been instrumental in kick-starting the careers of top European acts such as Kodaline, George Ezra, Hozier, Jungle, Milky Chance, Villagers and Royal Blood after industry heavyweights from across the continent saw them perform live at the festival.

The Riptide Movement say: “We're delighted that RTÉ 2fm has chosen our band to represent Ireland at Eurosonic. Having played Glastonbury, Bennicassim and Electric Picnic, Eurosonic is one of those festivals that we've always wanted to play. Bring it on, we can't wait!”

As one of the founder radio partners of Eurosonic, 2fm has picked a top Irish act to represent Ireland since the festival began. The Riptide Movement will join the ranks of previously-selected 2fm acts such as The Strypes, Little Green Cars, The Frames, James Vincent McMorrow, The Coronas, Cathy Davey, God Is An Astronaut, Heathers, Julie Feeney and JJ72.

Eurosonic runs from 14 to 17 January 2015.
