    It's 20 years since the OJ Simpson chase.  Dave asks the questions...was this the beginning of reality TV?  Did OJ Simpson change TV?  95 million Americans had tuned in to watch some portion of the chase in 1994 while only 90million tuned in to that year's Super Bowl.

    As the World Cup kicked off on Thursday a lot of people sat glued to their TV screens watching each and every game...  But for every person watching, there's someone who has no interest.  Alan Ruane chats with Dave about where you can go to have a quiet pint if you're not a fan of football.


    Although they've been around for more than 100 years chips are more popular than ever and the little greasy bites always bring a smile to an Irish person's face.  Food blogger Aoife Cox and Lema Murphy, winner of the recent World Chip Championships in Ireland, chat with Dave about the humble little chip.

    Ireland’s first official national pop radio station (RTÉ 2fm) was launched in the summer of ’79 with Dave presenting a rock show every evening. Dave was seen by the music industry as Ireland’s answer to John Peel, the legendary BBC Radio One presenter.

    His first radio session on RTÉ 2fm was with U2 who were then a young Dublin band. His connection to the band continues today - U2 gives Dave the world exclusive play on all U2 releases.

    Dave has fronted more than twenty television programmes ranging from arts, culture and quiz shows to political documentaries.     For over twenty years he won the Best DJ award in the Hot Press Reader’s Poll (including 2013), he’s a three times winner of the Best DJ at the Meteor Music Awards and was granted the Industry Award in 2004 and collected a PPI Award in 2011 and on Virgin Radio in London he won one ‘for his outstanding contribution to radio’. In The UK he was a member of the Mercury Music Prize team for its first three years.

    In ’08 Dave was asked by Harper-Collins in London to write his autobiography. With a foreword written by Bono, The Thing is…’ was published in 2010.
