    Rosanne Cash

    Grammy Award-Winning musician Rosanne Cash is in Dublin tonight at Vicar Street. Earlier this year, she released an album called The River and the Thread. The album was inspired by trips she made to the Southern States of the USA. The trips brought her back to Memphis, where she was born, and to Sun Records, where her father, Johnny Cash, cut his first record.

    Ireland’s first official national pop radio station (RTÉ 2fm) was launched in the summer of ’79 with Dave presenting a rock show every evening. Dave was seen by the music industry as Ireland’s answer to John Peel, the legendary BBC Radio One presenter.

    His first radio session on RTÉ 2fm was with U2 who were then a young Dublin band. His connection to the band continues today - U2 gives Dave the world exclusive play on all U2 releases.
     

    Dave has fronted more than twenty television programmes ranging from arts, culture and quiz shows to political documentaries. In the nineties he presented, researched and wrote up to 400 movie review programmes for RTE TV, travelling regularly to America and beyond for one-on-one interviews with the stars (Tom Cruise,Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts, Mel Gibson, Pierce Brosnan, Denis Quaid, Nicholas Cage, Robert Redford, Harrison Ford, Richard Gere, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Madonna, J-Lo, Uma Thurman, George Clooney, Kate Winslet, Kevin Spacey, Susan Sarandon, Charlize Theron, Keanu Reeves, Robert De Niro, Antonio Banderas, Stephen Segal, Sylvester Stallone, Julianne Moore, Robin Williams, Holly Hunter, Sandra Bullock, Liam Neeson, Scarlett Johanssen, Cate Blanchette, John Hurt, Brendan Gleeson, Oprah Winfrey, Melanie Griffith, Gabriel Byrne, Angelina Jolie, John Malcovich, Danny Glover, Danny DeVito, Christina Ricci, Anthony Hopkins and many more including directors from Robert Altman to Stephen Spielberg.     For over twenty years he won the Best DJ award in the Hot Press Reader’s Poll (including 2013), he’s a three times winner of the Best DJ at the Meteor Music Awards and was granted the Industry Award in 2004 and collected a PPI Award in 2011 and on Virgin Radio in London he won one ‘for his outstanding contribution to radio’. In The UK he was a member of the Mercury Music Prize team for its first three years.


    In ’08 Dave was asked by Harper-Collins in London to write his autobiography. With a foreword written by Bono, The Thing is…’ was published in 2010.
