    Dan Hegarty - The Alternative

The Alternative To Sleep! Alt Rock, Metal, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Electro, plus the RTE 2fm studio Sessions, & Chvrches live from Stockholm.

The Scottish trio has achieved a lot in a comparatively short amount of time. Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty became Chvrches in 2011, and by 2013 had more buzz about them than a swarm of bees!

Their debut album 'The Bones of What You Believe' was one of the strongest debuts of 2013, and has helped them sell out venues all over Europe, the U.S., and Japan. This set was Debaser Medis, Stockholm on October 30th, 2013 by SR - P3 (Sweden) for Eurosonic.

Brian Eno and Karl Hyde have made some truly great music over the years, but that didn't guarantee that their collaboration on 'Someday World' would continue this rich tradition. Thankfully it works wonderfully on every track; never falling short at any stage. At times this sounds like Depeche Mode jamming with Tinariwen - spectacular!

Will De Burca has been knocking out classy tune for the last number of years. 'Tomorrow’s Light & Darkness' is his debut album, which has exceeded the high expectations that I had for it. At times it's a throwback to early 90s electro (the good stuff!), but mostly it's an album that based very much in the present.

‘Luminous’ is album number four from The Horrors. It’s an album that could have been released almost any time over the past 25 years, as it could sit well with music in 1989, 1997, or 2002 as much as it does today. It’s what The Horrors do so well; their brand of psychedelic shoegaze that nods to many masters from the past.

Somehow this managed to slip by a lot of people's radar when it was released in 1999. 'My Beautiful Demon' sat somewhere between Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' and 'OK Computer' by Radiohead. Like both of those album, it was not an album that sat with any particular trend at the time. Christophers' bittersweet vocals are both fragile and powerful; making this album a true treasure for anyone who heard it.
