    THE PALE’S FIVE-TRACK SHUFFLE

You could call The Pale survivors from a previous golden age of Irish music, but this would only tell part of their story. Their career has spanned more than two decades, and at present they're treating fans to what they call The Pale's 21 Song Salute. Every Monday for 21 weeks, they will make a song available to listen to via soundcloud. Some of these songs have never been heard before, while others are b-sides, radio promo material, flexidiscs, cassettes, and archive Fanning Session tracks.

They've supplied an equally fascinating selection of tracks for this week's Five-Track Shuffle.

ALBUMS OF THE WEEK – SUNKEN FOAL, THE ANIMATORS, & TOY

Following the brilliant ‘Friday Syndrome Vol. 1’, Sunken Foal is back with the equally spectacular ‘Friday Syndrome Vol. 2’. Call this an antidote to the festive madness that has engulfed planet Earth, or simply view it as what it is; one of the finest Irish releases of 2013.

‘Drawn Together’ is from Dublin’s Hip-Hop superstars The Animators! They’ve enlisted the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble for one of the tracks on this, their second album. It’s minimal bling, with a load of tunes that recall old skool classics without sounding derivative.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that Toy released their debut self-titled album (I’ve just check 14 months), so to see another album was a pleasant surprise. They haven’t changed their sound that much; just tightened things up, and brought us 11 new tunes on 'Join The Dots'. Fans of anything psychedelic are going to love this.
