JONNY REP IN THE RTE 2FM SESSION – MONDAY, JUNE 10

If you've heard their single 'Won't You Agree?' you'll know that Jonny Rep can put together potent tunes. This session proves that they have plenty more in their arsenal. The Cork band released their debut self-titled album in 2010, and plan to have more material out this year. They recorded this session for Dan recently, and showcased some of these new tunes.

    PRINCE – BACK & FORTH – TUESDAY, JUNE 11

He's the artist that has reinvented himself more times that any of us could possibly remember. The Purple one, The Artist, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince; what ever name he's gone by over the years, he's never failed to keep his subjects guessing. Dan will delve into his extensive catalogue of music, which in geographical terms is the size of the Grand Canyon. Don't believe me? His Wikipedia is the length of a petition!

    GHOSTPOET'S FIVE-TRACK SHUFFLE – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12

Ghostpoet is a rare talent in these troubled times of ours! Known as Obaro Ejimiwe outside of musical circles, he is (if there is one) the missing link between Gil Scott-Heron, Massive Attack, and Roots Manuva.

His first single 'Cash & Carry Me Home' was released in January 2011, followed by the debut album 'Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam' in February 2011. He spent 2012 touring and working on his second album, which emerged in last month under the name 'Some Say I So I Say Light'. This week's Five-Track Shuffle comes from Ghostpoet.

JAKE BUGG LIVE FROM THE EUROSONIC FESTIVAL – THURSDAY, JUNE 13

He's been dubbed 'an East Midlands Bob Dylan', a compliment that Bugg took, but hasn't dwelled or rested on such a reference point. He arrived at Eurosonic last January as one of the acts to see, and didn't disappoint. Since then, things have continued to get bigger and bigger for the man who has yet to reach the grand age of 20!

Recorded by NPO/3FM (Netherlands) in collaboration with VRT/Studio Brussel (Belgium), ARD-WDR (Germany), SR/P3 (Sweden) and BBC (UK) for Eurosonic.

ALBUMS OF THE WEEK - JAGWAR MA, NANU NANU, & QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

They come from that land known as Australia; they are Jagwar Ma. I've
been waiting for this album for quite some time, and after multiple listens, it lives up to all my somewhat unrealistic expectations!

'Unit 1' arrived on planet earth at the beginning of the month. Nanu Nanu have put together a fine debut album that will win the followers where ever they want to go.

It's been a while since we've had an album from Queens Of The Stone Age, but 'Like Clockwork' ends the drought if you want to call it that. It's Number 1 in the Irish Album Chart this week - a worthy No 1 too.
