Junior Doctors Vote to go on Strike

Junior doctors have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action against dangerously long working hours - leaving hospitals facing major disruption in three weeks.

A strike committee will meet tomorrow to draw up a plan of action and will sit down with the HSE on Wednesday to draw up contingency plans.  The doctors say they will provide emergency cover. Junior doctors are angry at the failure to cut their working hours which can see them on duty for between 70 and 100 hours a week and enduring shifts of 36 hours at a time.

Eric Young, Assistant Director, Industrial Relations with the IMO, gives an update.

    Soccer Transfer Fees

Dave Kelly of RTE Sports talks to Colm about the madness of Transfer Deadline Day and following on from Gareth Bale's transfer to Real Madrid, he did a search on the history of transfer fees. The first recordded transfer was in 1893 when Willie Groves transferred from West Brom to Aston Villa for £100.

Real Madrid are now responsible for the last five world record transfer fees: Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

    Priory Hall

Denise McManus, a former resident of Priory Hall, talks of her ongoing problems since she was moved out of her home. The former residents are all still paying mortgages on what is now a derelict property and the banks are chasing them constantly if they default.

    Door Jammer

If you're heading off to college this year for the first time or heading back to your college course shortly, you're probably on the lookout for cheap accommodation but sometimes the problem with student accommodation with cheap flats is security. The Door Jammer is an innovative solution for travellers, business people or anyone needing instant privacy and security.

Door Jammer is portable, light-weight but super strong. It fits into a handbag and is simply fitted to a door providing an extremely effective additonal level of door security easily preventing kick-ins, shoulder slams and any forcible antry attempts. In case of emergency it is easily removed and by pulling the device upwards it will remove itself from the locked positoin without any effort.

It is available through the website http://www.door-jammer.com/ and costs €29.99 plus postage and packing.
