What we want the listener to talk about and what the listeners want to talk about, they decide! Colm Hayes Show weekdays, 11am-1pm

Today we spoke about public apologies in light of the recent controversy over the comments made by Coronation Street star Bill Roache.

The Cycle Against Suicide is next month, and we are hopefully fit and ready, but today we went back to remembering why we are doing the cycle in the first place

And Bob Geldof has questioned why current song-writers no longer seem interested in being the voice of protest. We asked if this was true, but listeners came up with some great examples of current singer song-writers who have a political message; mentioning The Manic Street Preachers, The Dixie Chicks, Pink, Muse, PJ Harvey, U2 and many more

    Public Apology

Coronation Street star Bill Roache has been forced to apologise for comments he made about sex-abuse victims. Also South African cardinal; Wilfred Fox Napier has apologised for offending victims of child abuse when he described paedophilia as an illness and not a crime in a media interview. But when is an apology acceptable? Do you think an apology is acceptable in cases of offensive opinion? Should we accept the
apology in efforts to protect free-speech or should certain levels of offense lead to ‘sacking’. When is a public apology OK and not OK?

    Cycle Against Suicide

The Cycle Against Suicide is getting underway next month – we have been talking a lot about the practicalities like training, gear, accommodation etc – Today we re-visited the issues behind the cycle and the reason why we are doing this in the first place.
