Breakfast with Hector
Hector and Alan were tanned and fresh faced this morning on their first day back after a three week break. All this week Breakfast with Hector is extended by an hour, airing from 7am – 10am, Monday to Friday.
A fresh start and a new game, Hector introduced ‘Panic’, a game requiring competitors to name 5 things in 10 seconds, for example, name 5 things that are red? Name 5 footballers. Marian Neely from Donegal was today’s winner and managed to win a one night stay with breakfast for a family of 4 at the McWilliam Park Hotel in beautiful Mayo.
The Royal Baby is on its way as the Duchess of Cambridge was taken into hospital this morning. She was in labour and due to have a natural birth. Alan provided regular updates but we’re still awaiting news of the Prince or Princess here at BWH Headquarters.
All this week BWH has teamed up with Londis who’re offering fantastic prizes. Each daily winner will receive €400 worth of Londis vouchers as well as being put into the overall draw which will take place on Friday. The overall winner will receive a family 3 night stay in the 5 star Fota Island resort including accommodation in a luxury lodge, B&B, passes to the wildlife park and €2,500 spending money. This morning, Hector asked his Soldiers of the Dawn to text in with something unique about their local place. Collette Charles from Co. Leitrim won this morning with her ‘July Bank Holiday’ in Cloone Co. Leitrim.
What’s the hottest and worst job to have in a heatwave? Everything from Hairdressers to gas line workers, but the winner of a Breakfast with Hector mug for his troubles was milkman, Kevin McGlone, who has been trying to keep the milk cool on his very early morning deliveries. Not a pleasant chore in the high temperatures we’ve been having the past couple of weeks. Mum to be, Lors Byrne, also managed to get her hands on a mug. At 39 weeks pregnant, the stifling heat is not easy.
‘Rewind’ is another new game where Hector brings you back in time and tries to jog your memory. Playing hits from a certain year and giving clues, Hector asks you to identify the year and send your answer with your name and location to 51552. Lorraine Whelan was quick off the mark with her correct answer of 2002 this morning and she is heading to the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin for a family get away for 2 adults and 2 children for one night.
We’ll be back tomorrow from 7-10am. Until then, KHL.
