Breakfast with Hector
Breakfast with Hector heard from Derek Turner this morning. Derek had made a terrible mistake last Thursday. He had booked tickets to see Beady eye in Manchester at their album launch gig. After arriving off the plane himself and his wife did a spot of shopping and then went back to the hotel to freshen up before the gig. When his wife returned from the local shop he asked if the queues were starting to build outside the venue. When she said “no”, he checked the tickets. Turns out Derek had missed the gig by one day. It’d all happened the evening before and he hadn’t checked the tickets since he purchased them! But Derek is not alone!
Dubs v ROC has had Cathal Rochford from Cork winning for a week. This morning Cathal was greeted by Dub opponent, Andy McGirl. The two men battled it out and the Dub managed to knock the Cork man off his throne. Along with the Dubs v ROC title, Andy also won himself a Hairy Baby Bosco Mug set and retro t-shirt from hairybaby.com, an exclusive BWH mug as well as a copy of Stooshe’s debut album ‘London With The Lights On’. Hector will be looking for another representative from the Rest Of the Country in the morning to challenge the Dub.
Hector received lots of phone calls and messages from people confirming that Derek, was indeed, Not Alone! ‘You’re Not Alone’ saw people missing flights, stopping a train in panic by hitting the red button and even missing weddings after mixing up the dates.
All this week Hector is giving away a fantastic Mini Explorer break for this Sunday thanks to Carlton Hotels. This morning’s prize was a five night stay in the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel Westport, Co. Mayo for two adults and two children with dinner on two nights and a spa treatment, for the adults, while the Mini Explorers take off on their adventures, as well as, a family pass to Westport House and a packed lunch from the Carlton. Aoife O’Hagan from Dundalk was this morning’s qualifier and managed to win her family the Mini Explorer Family Holiday worth €1,500.
Mum, Sheila, and daughter, Emily, were on Cranky Car this morning. They were on their way to school in Co. Offaly this morning when a fight broke out before they’d even left the house! There were lots of Cranky Heads as a result. But Emily decided it was her Mum that was the crankiest. So Emily sang the song at Sheila for Hector in the hope of putting everyone in better form.
Join Hector tomorrow morning on RTÉ 2fm from 7 to 9am.
