Breakfast with Hector
It’s Tuesday morning, and on this morning’s show Hector wished the Obama’s well on their “school tour” to Glendalough, Co Wicklow, today. With lots of school tours happening around the country this month, Hector asked, where should we send the Obama’s on a school tour? Lots of suggestions of venues like Tayto Park, or perhaps the Dolmen in Carlow, and even a trip to Kilmainham Gaol was suggested by Alan. Although, his school tour to the Gaol ended up in the entire class being banned from visiting Kilmainham Gaol ever again!
On Dubs v ROC, Cathal Rochford from Cork challenged the reigning Dub, Fintan MacCasarlaigh. Fintan got off to an impressive start and was 2-0 up but the Cork man quickly caught up and proceeded to beat the Dub. Cathal is now the champion to be beaten and managed to win himself tickets to Justin Timberlake with special guests Jessie J and X Factor winner James Arthur in the Phoenix Park on July 10th 2013. All this week’s winners will be entered into Friday’s draw for an overall prize to meet Mr. Impossible himself, James Arthur, on the night of the gig.
If giving Justin Timberlake tickets wasn’t enough, Hector also had Killers tickets to giveaway! Jo Wilson was the lucky winner today and she will be heading off to see the Killers with special guests Frank Ocean, Two Door Cinema Club and Haim at the Phoenix Park on Saturday 13th July 2013. Jo, along with the rest of the qualifiers across RTÉ 2fm, will be entered into a draw to win another chance to see the Killers but this time in the Wembley Stadium in London this weekend! Stay tuned to 2fm today where Will Leahy will announce the winner.
This week’s ‘after 8’ competition is with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, which takes place at The Curragh Racecourse on Saturday 29th June. The prize consists of admission for two to the Derby, lunch, a nice bottle of bubbly and Curragh membership for 2013. Today’s winner was Nicola Sheehan from Co. Clare. Nicola will be entered into Friday’s overall draw with the rest of this week’s qualifiers with a VIP overall prize. The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby VIP package includes premier admission tickets for 2 with champagne lunch in the exclusive Derby Club Room, chauffeur driven to and from the races, two nights luxury accommodation in Barberstown Castle, and tickets to the glitzy Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Ball in the K Club on 28th June 2013. For more information visit www.curragh.ie.
Michelle Eustace was accompanied by 28 students from 4th class St. Senan's N.S. Kilrush this morning as they travelled up to Croke Park for the Irish Aid Education for All Awards. St. Senan’s was shortlisted for their songs on the topic of Education for All. All the 4th class students sang their version of Gangnam Style for Hector in full voice, and it’s no wonder they have been nominated for the award! Wishing them the best of luck today.
A brief update on the Niall and Caoimhe #SexySparklingWhiteCar story, Hector’s sources have heard that they have been communicating via Facebook in recent days. The two are set to have their first date on Friday, as arranged by Breakfast with Hector with thanks to Toyota Ireland and the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown. We’ll be checking in for an update with them then.
Until tomorrow morning, bright and early at 7am, Keep Her Lit.
