Breakfast with Hector
On How’s The Country this morning, Hector spoke to Fran Fagan who is undertaking a bareback horse ride from Kildare town to Castlebar. Fran is taking on this challenge all in aid of the very worthy cause, Barretstown Resbite Centre. The route has been planned and the journey started.
Anita Richardson from Dublin was on Dubs v ROC in an attempt to defend her title. She came up against her opponent Ray Walsh from Cavan. Ray was the stronger man on the morning and was victorious for the Rest Of the Country. Ray won a fantastic prize this morning consisting of, a luxury strawberry hamper from www.bestinseason.ie thanks to National Strawberry Week, a coveted and priceless signed BWH mug, and 4 tickets to see “Dare to Dream, the new show from Disney on Ice.
Jane Murphy nominated her husband, Fiach, Dad to 6 month old Dylan for this year’s Dad of the Year title. If you know a Dad and want to nominate him, he can be of any age, any walk of life, any Dad you know and from any part of Ireland, the one criteria is that he must have done something really extraordinary as a father to be considered. BWH and The People of The Year Awards are searching for The Dad of The Year 2013. Nominations can be submitted via www.peopleoftheyear.com. Closing date for entries is today, Friday 14th June 2013.
Hector’s ever growing Love Story came to a climax today as Caoimhe and Niall spoke on air for only the second time ever. Hector decided to send the pair on a fantastic first date. The pair will be staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown, in separate rooms at opposite ends of the hotel, Toyota Ireland will chauffeur them to one of Dublin’s top restaurants and treat them to a beautiful meal, and then they will be driven to the Rihanna - Diamonds World Tour concert at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
Each day this week on BWH, one luck person is winning a fantastic hotel get away to the beautiful sea side town of Westport, Co. Mayo. Destination Westport is celebrating the ‘Westport Get Out There Adventure Festival from 8th – 15th June, Westport Blue Grass Festival 14th – 16th June, and Westport Festival of Music and Food 29th – 30th June. This morning’s winner was Celine Judge from Co. Kildare. Celine will be staying two nights at the four star Westport Woods Hotel in an idyllic woodland setting with breakfast each morning, one evening meal in the Lakeview Restaurant, and a sumptuous spa treatment at the Beech Health Club & Spa.
Gerard from Down and Gavin from Derry had a chat with Louise this morning and predicted results for the upcoming match. Both Gerard and Gavin have Down pegged to win with Gerard predicting a close match and two point victory for Down and Gavin giving Down a 5/6 point win. Time will tell.
St. Aidan’s National School, Kilkenny, has their 1st and 2nd class school tour today and Mum, Lisa, was kind enough to ring for Cranky Car on behalf of the Cranky Heads getting up and out early to be at the school gates. The bus was leaving at 9am and they were all looking forward to the day out. Hopefully the weather holds up!
