Breakfast with Hector
Good morning on this bright May morning! It’s Tuesday and Hector began with ‘How’s The Country’ and spoke with Peter O’Connell from Killererin, Co. Galway. Peter recently became the first Connacht man to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Peter took on the challenge with an aim to raising awareness for Suicide Prevention and funds for Pieta House West and their new centre in Tuam, Co. Galway. He has raised €29,000 to date.
Dubs v ROC saw Damien defend his title yet again. Damien Flaherty has been champion for 4 days now. Dub, Sinead McGlynn, took on the challenge today. But alas, trucker, Damien was up far too early with a clear head and a quick mind and once again won today’s Dubs v ROC. The prize today was an overnight for 2 with breakfast included in the beautiful Kelly’s Resort Hotel & Spa. Visit www.kellys.ie.
Hector is Fit and ready to go to UL on Thursday! Dave Mahedy, Director of Sport and Recreation at UL, gave Hector a call this morning and had a chat about the preparations and excitement awaiting the BWH in the Sports Arena. Apparently all the lycra in Limerick is sold out! This Thursday, 23rd May, in the UL Sports Arena Limerick, it promises to be a great morning of exercise and motivation. Richie Clifford will be leading the troops as we Keep Her Fit with the nation’s first simultaneous aerobicathon starting at 8am! Come along in your sports gear to UL or tune in in your local gym or where ever you are on Thursday 7-9am.
‘What Class of A Bark Is It?’ was challenging this morning with only two correct answers from hundreds of entries. Tanya Shields in Carlow correctly identified today’s dog bark as that of Bernese Mountain Dogs. Tanya owns two dogs of the breed that originate from Switzerland. Tanya chose from The Cononas June 22nd, Passenger July 2nd, ZZ Top June 27th or Imelda May July 9th. Tanya will be going to see ZZ Top all thanks to Aiken Promotions and Live at the Marquee, Cork. She will also receive one night’s accommodation the night of the gig in Cork city’s four star Clarion Hotel.
This morning Hector was joined in studio by Irish band, The Riptide Movement. The lads joined us in the middle of a nationwide tour. Full details available from www.trm.ie. The Riptide Movement are an up-and-coming band and are soon to play support to none other than the Rolling Stones.
Cranky Car had a twist this morning! Hector received a beautiful handmade card in the post from Maggie’s Senior Infants class in Griffeen Valley, Educate Together School recently, wishing him well in his Keep Her Fit Aerobicathon on Thursday. (See the card here) Maggie had the whole class in for 8.45am to take Hector’s call. They are all going to take part on Thursday morning from 8am in their classroom and do their stretches and their exercises.
We will do it all again tomorrow morning. Soldiers of the Dawn reunite, tomorrow, from 7am on RTÉ 2fm.
