Breakfast with Hector
On this morning’s show, Hector spoke to Oisín Browne for How’s The Country. Oisín began his journey in fine art college and subsequently became a Binman. Working outdoors everyday allowed Oisín a lot of thinking space and inspired him. He has now written The Binman’s Guide to Selling which is made up of 100 light-hearted bite-size tips to help anyone in sales and/or interested in adopting a more positive mindset. Oisín’s book will be launched on Thursday 23rd May and can be purchased in book stores nationwide.
Dubs v ROC saw currently reigning champion, Damien Flaherty of Roscommon, defend his title. Opponent Fran Quinn from Dublin attempted to beat Damien, but without success. Hector and Damien will be looking for another Dub to represent and compete on Monday. Text 51552 with your name and location on Monday morning to enter for Dubs v the Rest of The Country.
It’s Friday and that means getting it off your chest with Gone To The Dogs. The BWH team had loads to complain about this morning with Doireann unhappy with the tea you get nowadays, Alan with the lack of selection of pick ‘n’ mix at the cinemas and Hector with the Eurovision Song Contest. Tara from Drumcondra felt the slow sets were GTTD, Maureen from Roscrea - the opening of soup packets, Audrey from Westmeath the lack of Germolene ointment but this morning’s winner was Carol in Leixlip who truly felt that Clingfilm with its lack of cling-ability and bounce has Gone To The Dogs.
Hector and Keelings gave away the last of the fruit hampers this morning. This morning’s missing fruit from our ‘Missing Fruit Song’ was lemon. Caitriona Lynch Walsh in Kilkenny won this morning’s hamper and very shortly after she received a second phone call from BWH naming her winner of the Overall Prize this week. Caitriona has won herself a Keelings fresh fruit hamper, two tickets to Bloom, a nights hotel stay and the overall prize of a €5,000 voucher which she can use in any Bord Bia award winning garden centre or toward garden landscaping from a Bord Bia certified Landscape Contractor.

Hector heard a great rendition of Cranky Car this morning by the Buckley Family in Belgooly, Co. Cork. Maeve and Scott were on their way to school and listen to Hector every morning on their way to school. This morning there were a few Cranky heads, but that was soon shaken off by singing the Cranky Car Song.
It’s Friday. Enjoy the weekend and communions, confirmations and celebrations happening all over the country. We’ll be back on Monday morning at 7am. Until then, KHL!
