Breakfast with Hector
Hector had a little mishap with a toilet and his iPhone yesterday. Somehow, while juggling vitamins and a French stick of bread, his phone landed at the end of the toilet bowl. Once he retrieved it, he blasted it with a Dyson hand dryer in the hope of resurrection. Appealing to the Soldiers of the Dawn, he received lots of water damage stories and tips on how to revive the phone.
Dubs ‘v’ Rest of the Country was a total wipe out this morning! Reigning champion, Liz Bracken from Moate, was straight in with three correct answers in a row leaving Dublin’s Darragh Ronan far behind. Liz now holds two entries into Friday’s big draw to win the VIP prize of Mark Owen tickets along with dinner and overnight for two in Jury’s Inn, Dublin. The competition continues tomorrow and with every winner being entered into the draw, the VIP prize is still up for the taking!
Keep Her Fit is getting close! May 23rd will see a massive aerobic gathering in UL. Hector and our Personal Trainer Richie from RTÉ’s the Gym warmed up this morning with some running and punching. Hector’s preparing his lycra for the occasion and is looking for any sport and fitness clubs to join him on the morning of Thursday, 23rd May. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
Lots of people got in touch this morning with their water-phone disasters. Mary Byrne in Prosperous told Hector of her phone’s “happy death”. She was at a wedding a few years ago and with the excitement of a good song calling her to the dance floor, her new phone managed to end up in a pint of Guinness. Amy McKeever had an equally sad phone story. Her niece’s Hello Kitty phone had a salt water end at the sea side. Funnily enough, it was not her niece but that of her sister’s fault, Fiona.
Alan of GSM Solutions provided some insight into the damage water can do to mobile phones and the possible remedies for the situation. Thankfully Hector’s phone appears to be in working order, for now.
Our BBQ competition in conjunction with Love Irish Food is happening every day this week. Hector is giving away a Gas Barbecue to one lucky winner every day. Today’s winner was Orlaith Lynch from Co. Kerry. Orlaith, along with the rest of this week’s winners, will be entered into Friday’s draw for the Ultimate Garden Party made up of garden patio set, gas heater, gazebo, BBQ, gas and utensils.
We’ll do it all again at 7am in the morning on RTÉ 2fm.
